Earn Industry-Aligned Finance and Accounting Continuing Education Hours Online

Learning is a lifelong journey, and shouldn’t stop with a diploma. In fact, many industries, particularly the accounting and financial sectors, require their professionals to maintain and build upon skills in order to remain credentialed throughout their entire careers.

Why should I earn Finance and Accounting CE/CPE hours at CSU Global?

It can be challenging for busy professionals to earn continuing education/continuing professional education (CE/CPE) hours while balancing a full-time job, family, and personal life. That’s why earning your hours entirely online, from an accredited nonprofit state university, is an excellent choice for so many professionals.

If you’re ready to demonstrate your commitment to professional growth while keeping your finger on the pulse of your industry, choosing CSU Global for your CE/CPE needs is a natural fit.

Industry-Aligned Curriculum

Our curriculum is continually evaluated by experienced and respected industry experts for career relevancy, and biannually updated to account for industry changes.

How many CE or CPE hours do I need?

The number and type of hours required will depend on several factors, including your professional license, level of experience, and the state in which you live/work.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

In general, CPAs need 80 hours* of continuing professional education (CPE) every two years, but may be restricted to 40 hours annually (though this can differ among states), and classes must be diversified among several topics. For example, in Colorado, at least 16 of your 80 hours can be personal development, while four hours must be ethics and two hours must focus on Colorado rules and regulations.

Certified Financial Planner (CFP)

CFPs must earn 30 hours* of continuing education (CE) hours per year, and this requirement is effective immediately upon certification (accrual rates for CFP candidates vary, so be sure to verify your eligibility). CFPs must earn two hours of CFP Board-approved ethics courses, and 28 hours covering one or more of the Board’s principal topics.

Certified Management Accountant (CMA)

CMAs are required to earn 30 hours of CE hours per calendar year (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31). A minimum of two hours must comprise ethics courses, and the remainder should focus on management accounting and financial management. (A number of hours can be carried over to the following year; please visit the IMA site for details.)

*IMPORTANT: To ensure accuracy, please verify your professional designation and/or state’s most up-to-date CE/CPE requirements with the appropriate governing body.
