Mitch Hopewell, M.Ed., Ed. D., Core Faculty, Online Teaching and Learning
Dr. Hopewell is responsible for teaching and developing courses in the MS in Online Teaching and learning program and mentoring online faculty teaching with the program. Dr. Hopewell spent 5 years as an instructor in the Teacher Education Department at Northern Arizona University, teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses. He was also responsible for mentoring pre-service teachers in a K12-based program and managed the university-wide online student evaluation process. Prior to his work at NAU, Mr. Hopewell taught in various K-12 contexts in Arizona and California.
Dr. Hopewell possesses an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and a Masters in Education in Educational Technology plus a Bachelor of Arts in History and Social Studies.

John J Doherty, M.A., MLS, Ed.D., Online Faculty, Online Teaching and Learning
Dr. Doherty is an Instructional Designer with the Northern Arizona University e-Learning Center, and part time faculty with the Honors Program and the College of Education. He was responsible for the development of online versions of NAU's library science program and is working to better integrate technology into the first year Honors seminar at NAU. He brings this experience to the development of the online course in Online Learning Technologies for CSU-Global. He is currently at work on the NAU e-Learning Commons, and just piloted a targeted version during the Spring and Summer semesters of 2008. A former academic librarian, Dr. Doherty's research is focused on interaction in online learning environments. Dr. Doherty holds a BA (Honours) in English, and MA in Arthurian Literature, a Masters of Library Science, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction.
Julie Frese, M.S., Ph.D., Online Faculty, Online Teaching and Learning
Dr. Julie Frese's teaching experience includes 25 years in public elementary and middle schools and 12 years at the university level. In addition to teaching all regular academic content areas, she has held a variety of other positions, including those of Reading Specialist and Instructional Resource/Support Teacher. Dr. Frese attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Disabilities and Master's in Curriculum and Instruction-Reading. She completed my Ph.D. in Curriculum Leadership (with a cognate in Instructional Technology) at the University of Denver.
As a life-long learner, Dr. Frese is working on her second Master's degree in Psychology She is highly experienced in designing and teaching online courses, mainly in the areas of instructional technology, literacy, assessment, evaluation, and research and is currently as mentoring doctoral students. She recently co-authored a book entitled, Literacy for the Diverse Learner. Her research interests include motivation and feedback in online courses, best instructional practices; meaningful integration of technology into instruction; and assessment and evaluation.
Amy Peterson, M.Ed., Ed.D., Online Faculty, Online Teaching and Learning
With over 18 years experience in teaching and developing curriculum, Dr. Peterson is actively involved as online faculty, teaching graduate-level courses in Educational Technology Management at Ashford University and Educational Technology Management, e-Learning and Online Teaching, and research courses at Northcentral University (NCU) and Baker College. At CSU-Global Campus, Dr. Peterson is developing and teaching courses on adult learning. Recently, Dr. Peterson has served on the Diversity sub-committee for NCU's 2008 self-study for accreditation renewal. Dr. Peterson possesses an Ed.D. in Educational Technology Management, a Master of Education in Curriculum Development and Instruction with a specialization in Online Learning, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education, English, and Psychology.
Keith Pratt, M.S., M.A., Ph.D., Online Faculty, Online Teaching and Learning
Dr. Pratt is considered one of the world's leading experts in the field of Distance Learning. He previously served as the Dean of Distance Learning and Educational Technology at Northwest Arkansas Community College. He also served as a Senior Project Manager for Datatel, Inc. a provider of Educational Administrative software in the U.S.
Dr. Pratt retired from the Air Force after 22 years as a Computer Systems Engineer and worked with many organizations such as the National Security Agency, Department of the Navy, Department of the Army, and the Coast Guard. He is currently the Lead Mentor for the Faculty Development and Training program at Northcentral University and has trained over 400 of their faculty. He is also the Lead Mentor in their Training and Development specialization.
As a Distance Learning Consultant Dr. Pratt has worked with many institutions such as University of North Dakota, University of South Dakota, University of Georgia Board of Regents, Penn State, Bowling Green, USC, SUNY, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, University of Alaska, Embry Riddle, Texas Womens College and a conglomerate of 18 technical schools in South Carolina. He has also worked and consulted with several organizations including AMD, University Health Network (Toronto General Hospital), Lee Hecht Harrison and the Ohio Learning Network.
Dr. Pratt has co-authored seven books, the first of which won the Frandson Award for most significant contribution to Adult Continuing Education Literature for the past ten years, presented by ACCE. These books are currently being used by many online institutions as text books in their online classes and as training materials for faculty development. Dr. Pratt has co-developed and delivered over 300 presentations, workshops, round tables, keynote presentations, and expert panels at many conferences to include Sloan-C, League for Innovation, Madison Conference on Distance Teaching and Learning and the Distance Learning conference for Florida Community College, Jacksonville. He is also the co-author of over forty book chapters, journal articles and delivered paper on the topic of online teaching and learning. He holds an M.A. and PhD in Human and Organizational Systems and an MS in Human Resource Management and Development. Dr. Pratt also has an Honorary Doctorate in Economics from Moscow State University, Russia.
